A politician was caught on camera abusing a woman in Noida

After footage of Shrikant Tyagi verbally and physically beating a woman at a residential complex in Noida appeared on social media, he is now on the run.

At least nine charges, ranging from extortion to attempted murder, are being brought against Shrikant Tyagi, the politician captured on tape assaulting and pushing a woman at a residential complex in Noida near Delhi.

Shrikant Tyagi is on the run after footage of him verbally and physically abusing a woman in Grand Omaxe society in Noida's Sector-93 B appeared on social media. He claims to be a member of the BJP Kisan Morcha, though the party has rejected this.

Today, police questioned Shrikant Tyagi's wife twice.

Bulldozers entered the neighborhood on Monday and demolished an unauthorized building on Shrikant Tyagi's home. Along with launching a manhunt to find him, the police have also announced a cash reward of 25,000 for any information that results in his capture.

The self-described politician has up to nine charges against him, including the one filed this year for attacking the Noida woman, it has now come to light.

The first extortion case was reported in 2007. Shrikant Tyagi was charged under the Goonda Act in the second case, which was also brought in the same year.

The third case was for threatening and culpable homicide, and it was filed in 2008.

Threatening and responsible homicide was the third crime reported in 2008. 2009 saw the filing of a fourth case for rioting and breach of peace. The sixth lawsuit, also brought in the same year, involved damage.

Shrikant Tyagi was the subject of another case for assault and intimidation in 2015. A seventh complaint was filed in 2020 for assault, threat and attempt to murder. 

This year, there have been eight reports of misbehavior, threats, and physical violence against women. The ninth complaint was filed for fraud and forgery because he had an MLA sticker on his car.

Shrikant Tyagi is being sought after, according to Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General of UP Police (law and order).

"The local police station's supervisor has been put on administrative leave. Along with him, a sub-inspector and four police officers have been suspended for slack performance "As reported by a news outlet, the ADG said.

The woman who filed the complaint in this case has also received two personal security officers (PSOs), according to Mr. Kumar.
