Mr & Mrs Aditya Dhar visits Baglamukhi Mata Mandir
Aug 26, 2022In the early hours of Saturday, a cloudburst struck the Raipur-Kumalda region in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. Rivers burst their banks, destroying bridges and flowing with ferocious power, according to officials.
They informed the source that water had also seeped into the caverns of Tapkeshwar, a well-known Shiva shrine on the banks of the Tons River.
The cloudburst happened at 2:15 in the morning. According to the authorities, Kempty Falls, a well-known tourist destination close to Mussoorie, was running dangerously and a bridge over the Song River had been washed away.
Following the cloudburst, mud invaded homes in over a dozen villages, leading the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to relocate the impacted residents to safe areas.
One of the members of the emergency response team was quoted by news agency ANI as stating, "All the people caught in the village were rescued, while some took shelter in a resort nearby."
According to officials, the impacted villages include Maldevta, Bhutsi, Tauliyakatal, Thatyud, Lavarkha, Ringalgadh, Dhuttu, Ragad Gaon, and Sarkhet.
The impacted residents have been relocated to panchayat buildings and schools, according to Sub-Divisional Magistrate Lakshmi Raj Chauhan of Dhanolti.
According to him, there are multiple spots where debris has blocked the Raipur-Kumalda vehicle road.
According to Mr. Chauhan, the Narendranagar-Ranipokhri motor road is partially stopped at Totaghati, the Rishikesh-Gangotri highway is partially obstructed at Nagni, and the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway is completely blocked at Totaghati.
A railway bridge in the Kangra area of neighboring Himachal Pradesh fell today after one of its three pillars gave in because of heavy rainfall.
With increased construction activity that doesn't take environmental consideration into account, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other Himalayan states frequently experience significant destruction during the monsoon season.
In Uttarakhand, historic monsoon rainfall in June 2013 triggered catastrophic floods that took over 6,000 lives.
