'Papa, aap har pal mere saath': Rahul Gandhi's tribute to Rajiv Gandhi

On Saturday, Rajiv Gandhi, a former Indian prime minister, celebrated his 78th birthday at Vir Bhumi, where Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid tribute to him. Robert Vadra, KC Venugopal, the leader of the opposition, and Mallikarjun Kharge were with them. Before being murdered by the LTTE terrorists in 1991, Rajiv Gandhi served as India's sixth prime minister from 1984 to 1989.

Posting a video on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Papa, you are with me every moment, in my heart. I will always try that I can fulfill the dream you dreamed for the country."

The Congress Party's official Twitter account posted in remembrance of the former prime minister's legacy, "We warmly remember former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, on his birth anniversary. Hailed as the 'architect of 21st century India', it was through his farsighted vision that ushered in the IT & telecom revolution in India.”

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, will officially open the Rajiv Gandhi Center for Advanced Technology (R-CAT) in Jaipur on this day.

"On the occasion of his 78th birthday, tributes to the late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Bharat Ratna. The CM tweeted the announcement of the inaugural. "Shri Rajiv Gandhi recognized the potential and significance of information technology and established its foundation in India three decades ago, bringing birth to a great age of I.T in the country.

The day will be recognized as Women Political Empowerment Day, according to the All-India Mahila Congress. According to a tweet from the party's women's wing, "Mahila Congress shall commemorate #WomenPoliticalEmpowermentDay today due to his significant effort in providing grassroots leadership to women through the 73rd & 74th Amendment."

State-specific Indian National Congress (INC) twitter accounts also paid tribute to the late PM and announced celebrations on this day.

The 78th anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi's birth was celebrated with a medical camp, according to a tweet from the Indian Youth Congress on the microblogging platform. The message on the tweet stated, "Team IYC International Kingdom of Bahrain Conducted a Medical Camp Celebrating 78th Birthday of Bharat Ratna Former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi ji."

A Sadbhavna Diwas will be held today at 9:30 a.m. to commemorate the day, according to a tweet from the Goa Congress.

Rajiv Gandhi's private pilot's license was featured in a tweet from the Odisha Congress Sevadal. Rajiv Gandhi was a pilot with Indian Airlines, the domestic national carrier, and he also held a commercial pilot's license.

Several other ministers and leaders tweeted on the occasion, remembering the former PM’s contribution to the development of the nation.
