Even the BJP, according to Babul Supriyo, cannot accuse him of corruption.

Babul Supriyo declared that he was pleased to "flip" his support to the BJP, which had "poached MLAs" serving in "half" of its state governments.

Almost a year after leaving the BJP, former Union minister Babul Supriyo was appointed to Mamata Banerjee's cabinet in West Bengal on Wednesday. He said that not even the BJP could ever accuse him of corruption. Babul Supriyo, who was called a "turncoat" on Twitter, expressed his joy at having the guts to reveal a group that had attempted to use him as a "scapegoat."

Mamata Banerjee reshuffled the cabinet and welcomed new faces, including Babul Supriyo who has been given the charge of tourism and information technology, amid the teachers' recruitment scam that dealt a severe blow to the Trinamool as former minister Partha Chatterjee has been arrested in connection with the scam.

Babul Supriyo attacked the BJP hard, saying "Forget about the MPs who are currently in high positions; half of your state administrations are made up of "poached" MLAs from other parties. In Bengal, your "Operation Jharkhand" was made public."

Calling the party, a 'washing machine' for 'criminals', Babul Supriyo tweeted, "Never in our history, a ruling party was so hated by the opposition."

In both the 2014 and 2019 elections, Babul Supriyo won the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency. He later served as the minister of state for urban development and subsequently heavy industry and public business. He was a BJP candidate who lost the 2021 assembly election. Following his defeat, he left the BJP after being removed from the Union Cabinet during a reshuffle last year. He joined the Trinamool in September 2021, and this year, after winning a byelection, he was elected as an MLA.
